Angeal gives me the feeling that he wantsa to turn to Zack and smile, tell him everything is okay, but can't seem to make eye contact because he knows in his heart it won be.
And Zack's puppy face gives him that innocent ignorance that is true to his character.
I also want to mention that the scratches on the armor are really well done and i'm glad they're there because most people would just skip a small detail like that. Armor is there to protect and therefore, unless it's very new, would be worn down in some way.
The blurry background of what I think is the Shin-Ra building seems very symbolic to me, like they're loosing sight of something they once thought they knew.
The faces are super-well done. Someone who doesn't know FFVII could look at this and see the difference in the characters by their anatomical structure and expressions. (Angeal's characteristic low, boxy jaw and Zack's thin and young-looking one, for example.)
I also love how Zack's hair is very realistic without taking away from his insane spikes that I think they messed up on Cloud in Advent Children. (Seriously, where'd his GIANT headspike go?)
My only real negative critique is that some of the lines, like in the hair and Angeal's back are really sharp and look somewhat pixelated and it kind of breaks it for me that way. Everything else is smooth and blends and then you're hit with some sharp lines. Just makes it kind of strange.
